That Council approves Option #1 regarding EV Charging Stations and; Furthermore That Council chooses 2 stations with the location being at the Wilberforce Municipal Office/Lloyd Watson Centre, 2249 Loop Road, Wilberforce, Ontario. Option #1 Turn-Key Approach This opportunity takes advantage of Natural Resources Canada funding that has already been granted to the Delivery Organization (Hydro One and Ontario Power Generation under the Ivy Network). This funding requires installation of the charging stations this year. While there was no firm deadline provided for municipalities to determine the location and number of sites that they wish to proceed with under this option, it was confirmed with the Delivery Organization that a decision on the number of stations and locations must be made in April 2021 to proceed with the work that is required prior to construction. The reasons for this recommendation include: There is certainty around proceeding with this option. Under Option 2, funding has not yet been confirmed for the Delivery Organization or for local municipalities as Ultimate Recipients. There is a risk under Option 2 that funding may not be granted. This option does not require high upfront capital costs which not all municipalities accounted for in their budgets. Installation of the stations would happen significantly faster under this option, meeting the growing demand more quickly. It is less onerous on the municipality as the Ivy Network takes care of installa
