Recommendation: Whereas certain lands adjacent to Centre Lake abut a 200’ Crown reserve; And Whereas at least two landowners who abut the 200’ Crown reserve on Centre Lake have objectives to develop their lands for resource- based recreational purposes; And Whereas it is understood that both landowners have submitted requests to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) requesting disposition of the 200’ reserve to accommodate shoreline development; And Whereas the Municipality awaits communication from the MNRF with respect to these disposition requests; And Whereas Council for the Municipality of Highlands East will not support an application for shoreline development that does not include ownership of lands to the water’s edge; Now therefore, Council directs staff and its consultants to defer pre- consultation discussions with respect to Planning Act approvals concerning potential shoreline development objectives on Centre Lake unless or until it is confirmed that the landowners own the lands which are fundamental to their overall development objective (i.e. the 200’ reserve); Furthermore, Council will not at this time entertain any request to stop up, close and convey any unopened road allowance for lands abutting or adjacent to Centre Lake until such time as the MNRF has rendered decisions on the requests to convey the 200’ reserve.
